Player Development Committee
The mission of the Player Development Committee is to increase the number of people playing pickleball and improve the quality of play in the CAPA service area. The target audience is from the Novice level (1.0 to 2.0) up to the Intermediate level (3.5) players. We aim to improve the fundamentals and skills of these players in large group sessions and we do not intend to conflict with paid trainers who are providing advanced level clinics in smaller or individual sessions.
The committee has developed skill level specific lesson plans focusing on the basic fundamentals including rules, grip, stance, forehand, backhand, volley, serve/return, drop shots, dinking and basic strategy. CAPA offers a stipend program of $125 for each certified trainer request that has been approved. To be eligible for the stipend, a certified trainer will be required to provide a minimum of four free clinics to CAPA members in a given calendar year. The Player Development Committee will have final review and approval discretion for all certified trainer stipend requests. The funds can be used to offset any costs associated with renewing an existing certification including license fees, course fees, membership dues, insurance costs, etc. Requestors should provide the following information once the certification renewal is complete: proof of certification including date received, organization received from, level of certification attained and the dates that the free clinics were delivered to CAPA members. Apply for funds by submitting the above information to capaareapb@gmail.com.
